Health Informatics and Information Management, MS

The Department of Health Services and Information Management offers the master of science in health informatics and information management degree. The degree requires 39 s.h. of course work, including a 3 s.h. internship/capstone. Students without health care related professional work experience will be required to take COHE 6000 . It can be taken concurrently while in the master’s degree program.

Admission Requirements

Application for admission to the graduate program in health informatics and information management must be initiated through the Graduate School. (See Admission and Readmission .) The department requires that the applicant meet the following minimum admission requirements: a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), and acceptable TOEFL score for non-English foreign students. At the time of application, the applicant must submit three letters of reference, a resume, and a completed statement of purpose as specified in the Graduate School application.

Applicants must present evidence of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution and completion of the following prerequisite courses within the last 5 years: computer programming (3 s.h. minimum) and statistics (3 s.h. minimum). Completed applications should be received no later than March 15 th for enrollment in the fall semester. Applicants may be interviewed as part of the admission process. Applications for full-time study beginning in either the spring or summer semesters will be considered only under special circumstances because of the sequential nature of the program of study.
